Bye Bye

CIMG1563

I am not ashamed to admit I have a blankie.

I am sad to inform you that I have now decided to bid farewell to said blankie.

I think he has had one too many stitch-ups and it is time to finally go.

CIMG1559

Bye Blankie. You’ve served me well. You’ve protected me from spooky monsters in the closet. You made the best princess skirt ever with the help of a few safety pins and dad’s belt. You dutifully caught many tears shed from an emotional Julie on more than a few occasions. And you kept me warm and safe when all I needed was a good night’s sleep or a Sunday afternoon nap.

I’ll miss you Blankie, but I’ll keep part of you to remember you by.

Thanks for the snuggles.

I kind of feel sad about this...that blankie has gone through a lot, with you, but with all of us watching! :) Good-bye blankie...I bid thee farewell and adieu.

Sad sad day. You should've kept some fabric and made it into a hankie like in the Owen book.

I feel your pain. Curtis doesn't let me bring my cool blanket out of our keepsake box because he thinks it's disgusting or something... it's just very tattered, not disgusting. But I will never get rid of it.

Bradford and I are making a quilt of old t-shirts and things, so I cut out a square from my blankie and he is going to have a place on that quilt! So part of my blankie will live on.

That is so sad! I still have mine but it is all wrapped up and safe at my g-ma's house.

Julie,
Sad as it might be, sometimes you have to move on! Perhaps you can find the same material, or similar, and make a new blankie...second generation?
